Born and raised in Northeast Los
Angeles, Pat Barr has been selling real estate since 1983. After having
owned and operated her own real estate brokerage most of the 1980's and
the early 1990's, Pat decided to sell her business in order to spend
more time with her son. "Family is an absolute priority for
me," she says. "Selling real estate is an extension of that.
Family makes a house a home." Having spent most of the late 1990's
working as fundraiser for AIDS and senior citizen causes, Pat missed the
person-to-person contact of working with real estate buyers.
"Don't get me wrong, I loved
charity work and I still do as much as I can in my free time, but I
missed working hand in hand with people, listening to their hopes and
dreams and making them happen. It's so gratifying when you see someone's
face light up the day they get their first set of house keys to their
very own home." Now that her son, Robert is all grown up, Pat has
returned to real estate and her passion for helping people fulfill their
dreams.
Pat is a homeowner in the
Monterey Hills - Hermon neighborhood and is often referred to as
"Queen of Highland Park", since she seems to know everyone.
In her free time, she is an avid gardener and has been know to council
new homeowners on the layout for their new gardens. Before real
estate, she got her BA in Humanities and worked as an aide in the
Colombian embassy. Pat has one son, "I got lucky the fist time,
so I stopped while I was ahead!" and two dogs, a dachshund named
Fritz and a blind deaf rescue mix named Keller.
"I just want people to
realize what a good investment northeast Los Angeles is," she
says. "You're ten minutes from downtown and Pasadena, thirty from
the Westside and forty from the beach. The homes are still a good
value, the neighborhoods are safe, multicultural and full of families.
It's really a great area."
